“Visual landscapes and spacerock from the end of the world”

ULTRA is a dark and stark, but at the same time strange and seductive stage performance.

Made for the larger stages, ULTRA combines dance, music and acrobatics with a progressive attitude. In this performance, spacerock meets power ballet and disco music meets contemporary gymnastics. Between its apocalyptic horizons, there is a void, a catwalk and an animal show. The piece is made for two dancers and two acrobats, whose movements and language blend seamlessly with the music: “The soundscape is so integral to the whole that sometimes you don’t even pay attention to it.”* The result is a powerful visual, wordless mental landscape.

ULTRA was produced as a Finnish-Russian co-production with the Academic Drama Theatre of the Komi Republic. The work continues the series of Finnish-Russian collaborations of Company Uusi Maailma that began in 2007.
